Our fishing trips take place in a beautiful hotel next to the cloudy mountain’s river. We offer a transfer service from San Jose by private taxi or you can rent a vehicle to access our lodge.
We also offer fishing days with departure and return from your hotel in San Jose.
The trip consists of:
Welcoming the fishermen and companions at the previously agreed place and time.
Taxi transfer to our hotel. The transfer from San Jose lasts around 1.5 hours.
Dinner at the hotel.
The daily routine of a guided day for fishermen is as follows:
- Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the fishing area (1 hour and 30 minutes if leaving from San Jose). If we’re leaving from the lodge we’ll go fishing without traveling by vehicle
- Morning of guided fishing.
- Picnic lunch next to the river.
- Afternoon of guided fishing.
- Return to the hotel in San Jose or lodge by the river.
- 8:00 am: breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant.
- Transfer to the airport or place requested by the guest.

Can you imagine the experience of being able to fish for small trout in a beautiful stream running through a cloudy mountain forest? The fish density is unbelievable! And all this surrounded by orchids, ferns, colorful quetzals, and beautiful butterflies.

The Trogon Lodge is in San Gerardo de Dota which is 1.5 km (0.93 miles) from downtown and 9 km (5.59 miles) from Los Quetzales National Park. This is the perfect couple’s getaway to spend two or three relaxing days. An elegant place with very good food; we take care of every detail and you and your companions should visit during your fishing trip.
Offering spacious rooms with a private terrace and bathroom equipped with showers, mountain and garden view and a free breakfast buffet or à la carte. Guests can enjoy a spacious garden, a terrace, a barbecue area, a shared lounge, and a tour information desk.
The lodge is next to the Savegre River and its barely a 2-hour drive from Juan Santamaría International Airport. The area is rich in biodiversity and it’s surrounded by potato and carrot plantations and is home to the dazzling quetzal. The Trogon Lodge is ideal for those who enjoy nature and seek a peaceful environment away from the loud and stressful city.
It offers 24 standard rooms and 1 deluxe upgraded room with a check-in time of 2:00 pm and check-out time of 12:00 noon. Wi-Fi is not offered in the rooms due to terrain conditions and the separation between them.
